Step 1: The Eligibility Requirement
In addition to being at least 18 years of age and hold a high school diploma or equivalent.
Step 2: Find a Real Estate School and complete the course.
You must complete 75 hours of approved real estate education at a school licensed by the New Jersey Real Estate Commission. Step 3: Register and Pass the State Licensing Exam
Once you have passed the school exam, your education provider will put your eligibility to the PSI system so you can schedule it. Once you are put in the PSI system, you will receive a confirmation email.
After completing your required education, you have one year to take and pass the State examination. The exam is administered by PSI Services, LLC. To register, go to http://candidate.psiexams.com/ , create your account and schedule the exam. (Fee: $38)
The exam consists of 110 questions and you will be given 4hrs. The required passing score is 70%.
Step 4: Complete Your Fingerprinting
Before you submit an application to become a licensed real estate Salesperson, you must complete a fingerprinting process (Live Scan) by scheduling an appointment with an approved vendor. (https://uenroll.identogo.com/ Fee: $66.05)
To prove that you have completed the process, you are required to provide a NJ Universal Fingerprint Form (https://www.nj.gov/dobi/division_rec/licensing/forms/univform_sales_051719_v1.pdf) and a payment receipt issued by IDEMIA.
Step 5: Find a Brokerage Company (Sponsoring Broker) to Submit Your Application of Real Estate license.
You must submit your application within a year of passing the exam. Application should be mailed to NJ Real Estate Commission. Electronically submit and pay are also available only if the applicant is eligible to do so. In order to submit electronically, you will need the applicant ID which can be found on the individual’s exam pass paper. Both submission method must be done through your sponsoring Real Estate broker. Once your application review is done and if it’s clear to be proceed, your license number will be issued and you will received it through your email.
